Was the first female officer from New England in the Women's Army Corps in World War II. Served as Jackson's town librarian for many years.

Grew up in Whitman, MA. Served as a corporal during World War II with the 516th field artillery battalion in Europe, Awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Moved to Jackson in 1965. Ski instructor at Black Mountain and was very active in many ski organizations. Owned The Mountain Troll a gift shop in Jackson.

Day had a year round gallery in Jackson from 1968 to 1991. He was considered one of the top ten exhibitors of photography in the world and was the first American photographer to have photographs accepted in an exhibit of England's Royal Photographic Society. Day was a fine painter who worked in all types of media.

	1805	Emerson, Ashton - August 12, 1995 This information is taken from obituary of his wife, Lilian Emily Wylie Emerson. Ashton Emerson, a U.S. citizen, studied medicine at McGill University and then served in the U.S. Navy until 1955. During his service he was President Truman's doctor on board the presidential yacht, The Williamsburg. The Emersons moved to Jackson in 1955 until Ashton's death in 1995.

	3435	Gale, Arthur P. - Obituary on death on October 30, 1957 - age 75 years. Born in Jackson April 2, 1882, son of Cyrus E. and Martha Gale who established the original Eagle Mountain House in 1879. After the first fire in 1917, Arthur became the sole owner of the Eagle Mountan House and built the main part of the present hotel. Married Isabel Bradshaw in 1947, who survives him as do one brother, Eliot N., and five sisters: Mary G. Hanson, Emily G. Hunt, Ruth G. Hill, Helen P. Gale, and Marcia G. Ghadbourne.
